88 mercury wont start

I have an 88 mercuy 175. I have had trouble starting it bout a month ago. I took the spark plugs out and wiped them down and she started rigt up. had the same problem the other day so I cleaned the spark plugs once again but nothing. It crankes over strong but it seems like there is no fire. Does anyone have an idea whats wrong or what I can check to fix it?<br /><br />thanx <br />gary

Your note on the spark plugs would indicate that you have some fouling. Make sure your gas is fresh, and that you are using the right mix if it's a manual mix (probably 50:1).
