Engine - Manual Trim

I have a 75hp Evinrude (1979 I think) which has only 2 Manual Trim settings (either up or down).
I use my boat mainly for fishing and wanted to know if anyone ever tried to create some kind of homemade setup to manually Trim the engine up half way. I'm asking because I often end up in shallow water and constantly need to take out my electric engine to get around these areas. I've also busted up a few props along the way.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steph

Re: Engine - Manual Trim

Hi Steph and welcome.

I wouldn't want to run the engine half way up. You may not get water to the pump and the engine could over heat. Don't know of any home made rig to raise and lower the engine. Sounds like what you really need is a jet drive. There is on the market prop guards that surround the prop and protect it from underwater hazards. They bolt to the anti-cav plate. Try a search for prop guards....checked iboats store and couldn't find them. Realitively cheap if you compare the price to a new prop.
