Age of used 6hp Johnson

I recently purchased a used 6hp Johnson that the previous owner did not know the year. Is there a way to tell by the serial or model number?<br />Model# is 6PL-73S and serial# is J3747993. Woul gas/oil mixture still be 50/1?

It's a 1973 Model and yes, the fuel mix is 50:1. Don't forget to check and change the lower unit lube and water pump if it's been a while, if you haven't already...
