That's a big one, surprised you didn't see it sooner.
Tell me about it. I back my boat right next to that when I’m getting it ready to go to the lake. I was within a couple feet of that many times. Never even noticed it. Complacency I guess.

I saw this nest in my back yard last night. I though is was a bees at first but daylight came and it looks more like tree rats.

I had a lady call me the other day to say her dryer wasn’t working so I went to check the vent tube. All clear so I went outside to check the vent. I stuck my hand in the and pulled out a big wasp nest. Lucky for me is was not actively being used. I’ll never stick my hand in a hole again without taking a pic first.
That could be taken many different ways....just so ya know...

Years back we had a cleanup day at a gun club I belonged to. Weed eaters hit a a hornets nest near the ground. Hundreds came flying out and guys were running to the clubhouse about 250 ysrds away. We all went in and had a cold one to settle down. Others came and went in the club house with no hornet issue. After a couple hours we headed back out to pick up the gear we left. Less than 10 steps out the door, three guys ( the ones that hit the nest) were stung repeatedly and taken to the hospital, none of the others
were bothered. Hornets have a memorie that can last for days. If you ever take out a nest, make sure you get them all....cause they will remember and get revenge on you...

I have a giant azalea that’s been taken over by forsythia, and grape vine. I went to it yesterday to get rid of the forsythia and vines to free up the azalea and guess what. Another huge bald face hornet nest. This one is tucked in and only about two feet off the ground. Only about 40 yards from where the other one was. This one I’ll leave alone.

If it has never been sprayed with chemicals, they may want it to make medicine for those with serious allergies. In my area, they will remove for free if the nest tests free from chemicals.
