83 7.5hp, smoke from cowl

Tinkering with an 82 7.5hp. I have it running great, but getting a lot of smoke coming out from under the engine pan and some under the hood itself. Bad base gasket maybe?

I don’t know the history of this motor as I picked it up as a tinker toy.

Side note, I did put a new impeller in it before running it. Possible I left something out?

Run with cowling off.---Squirt some extra oil into carburetor.----May help pinpoint a leak.

I'm going to say "yes" powerhead gasket. Pretty loud too. Are the bolts loose?

No loose bolts, the video makes it sound strange.

I pulled the power head. The old gasket had some form of yellow sealant on it. Would that have been done at the factory? Screw heads and such make me think this has been apart before. Also discovered there’s a missing grommet where the water tube goes into the pump.
