I am reworking my 18' CC and was wondering about the durability of bottom paint. The gelcoat is white and I have a spot or 2 to touch up as well as be removing all of the original decals from 1992.
I am a couple of months from doing anything but I like to research and ask questions.
Once I get a larger CC to leave at the coast, this will be a fresh water boat up here on our mountain lakes.

Opinion: Bottom paint has to be redone every 5 to 7 years in fresh water. Figure on it cost a 2K or so to remove/replace. Larger the boat the more it cost. A boat sitting in the water will build up with slime and puts a drag on the boat

A boat lift cost more in the beginning but will pay for it self in the long run and during resale

If the boat has antifouling paint on it, and it bothers you, it can be "soda blasted" off. After the soda blast, the hull will usually be a matte surface. If you want it shiny, you will need to repaint it.

Antifouling paint will provide some drag to the hull, due to it's soft, rough finish.
