Went into town this morning. Got behind a lady in the store that bought a carton of cigarettes. I didn’t think I heard the cashier right when she said the total, so I asked when I paid for my stuff. Sure enough a WHOPPING 125$ for a carton of Marlboro lights. I had no idea they were that much. 12$ a pack. How do these homeless guys you see sometimes living in cars and minivans do it. Seems they all smoke.

Really really bad cigarettes can still be had for 5 bucks or less however some states set a minimum price.

That is a far cry from what “sea store” cigarettes sold for when I was in the Navy. 12 cents a pack. As soon as the ship left the 3 mile limit the line for them was unbelievable.
I was able to quit them in 66, I guess that is why I am still around today.

I never smoked, my dad was a smoker....he used to send me out to get him his cigs, I recall paying something like $12 for a carton in '72 or so, also you could buy a pack from a vending machine outside the local diner for .75!
Back in the old days where we lived we had a Metro North RR line going through the center of our town, and our back yard backed up on the right of way for the tracks....all our "bad" habits got tried out there, in this wild teenage wonderland lol. Smoking (never liked it) racing mini bikes, liked that, the rest will remain "classified" lol.

I smoked for a few years in my youth, both cigarettes and other things. I quit the cigarettes when I was 19 back in 79. I think they were around 50/ 60 a pack.

Only $12 a pack now? When I left Long Island in 2010 they were $10 a pack back then. Last I heard they were up around $15 or more.

My wife smokes Salems. They were up over $110 a carton when she switched to 24/7s. The 24/7s can be had for as little as $38 a carton in some areas. Locally they are $54.

Cigarettes are a great source of income for the reservation stores. In western NY there is a little factory where the cigarettes are made and they are sold in the store nearby.

I live in the Indian Nations. The 24/7 factory is just up the road. Most expensive place to buy them is locally. The Indian smoke shop at the casino is cheapest. Gas station is $2 more for a carton. It is a lot cheaper when we travel out of state. At least smokes aren’t costing us $5300 a year anymore. If she would quit we could buy that car she’s been wanting but I can’t tell her that without starting a war.

I wish the Stench Sticks were $500+ a Carton. And Ban Smoking of Tobacco Outdoors, and in Houses/Vehicles with open Windows.
Pot and Hash are okay, as they don't Stink anywhere near as Bad as Tobacco

When teenagers pay $10 for cigarettes they have really spent $20.-----The $10 should be in a bank account for a downpayment on a car or house ---They now need to borrow that $10 and we all know what that costs over 20 years.

I guess, if you like the smell of skunk.
Most Weed doesn't smell like Skunk. It has been so long since I smelt any Skunk Weed, I forgot that it existed
However that said, A Skunk still smells better than a Smoker. Smokers Reek
