2001 Yamaha 8hp 4 stroke

Can anyone tell me what the tube with the knurled knob just below the shifter is and where it goes to, up on the engine.? I bought a motor that the threads that the knob connects to are broken off and it looks like the metal part with the threads is just a dead end. I can't see where it goes to anything it just seems to end. It looks like the metal piece or bracket is no longer an available part.

It is definitely a garden hose connection so I am going with the motor flush idea. That being said, and I'm not the sharpest tack in the box, so my only question would be, why is it going to the intake manifold? It seems to me that water and intake manifold make a strange combination.

there are cooling passages everywhere
did you notice it hits a tee and heads to other places also

The motor is awaiting installation and I am unable to trace the tubing at this time. I noticed the broken fitting and wondered what it was for. I am sorry that I wasted your time. man o man if that help offends you,
you must have a tough time going thru everyday life

The idea is to use the fitting to flush the motor , but you have to refit the hose end to the bracket so to block the hose otherwise when the motor is running and pumping its own water some water will be lost out of the hose .
You could just plug that hose and flush with either earmuffins or put the motor in a tub .
I understand your just looking for an explanation in advance which is a good idea coz not many motors have that hose flush fitting ,and I dont believe you have wasted anyone's time

Sorry 99, I wasn't commenting on your reply and I should have stipulated that. The parts breakdown that I looked at just had the parts listed as, tube or gasket or adapter with no mention of flush kit so I was curious what it was for.
