I may try this, I think I should put the trap near the boat but probably not on it. I don't want them to think I opened a restaurant.
Start outside, but you will need more than one, and move them often. Rodents soon learn where they are located. You should have one or two inside to catch any that make it inside. To clear them all out, you will need a good month of regular diligence setting traps and rebaiting everyday. After the family is gone, you will need to keep traps set to catch visitors.

I built a wood box with a slide open top, put a rat trap inside. The opening was just big enough for them to get about half way in. Nailed around six of them. Haven’t had an issue since.

Our camper shed is next to the pole barn. I keep our boat in the pole barn. Uncle Gus is a great mouse deterrent. Put about 6 throughout the camper. I keep the boat covered (do a lot of dust generating activities) and threw a couple Uncle Gus pouches in the boat for winter storage. Not sure how it works with larger rodents, but we never had an issue with them. We live in the woods and no rodent problem and the squirrel population has definitely grown this year. We used to have a bird feeder next to the barn which drew a lot of mice. When we moved that away from the barn, there was a marked reduction in mice. I keep a 5 gallon bucket mouse trap in the barn and rarely get a mouse anymore. The squirrel give us too much entertainment to get rid of them!

You must mean Grandpa Gus. Wrong family member. Lol The only thing that works is traps. All the deterrents are a waste of money. I've had mice tear apart the packets and use the shredded paper for nests. It just makes their homes smell good.... I've tried it in an rv, snowmobiles and a mailbox, yes, a mailbox. They all laughed at them.....

My favorite squirrel trap is an old mossburg 20 gauge with 6 shot. My neighbors leave for a couple months after Christmas I get busy culling the squirrels then. A red squirrel shows on the peninsula I have the green light to cull immediately.

My favorite squirel, chipmunk, rat, and any other pest that needs eliminated is my precision high powered air rifle. Easy targets out to 40-50 yards. I like the quiet part, most neighbors and other critters are not scared off from the loud noise of a firearm...

Oh I have a gamo have a quiet 22 as well. I prefer the 20 gauge because it is instant death, I hate to see a wounded squirrel limp off.

I feed the squirrels at my shop and we have become friends. I had one in the spring that was a pain in the ass and ate the trim around the door trying to get in and bit me 3 times so that one had a take a permanent nap.
I have had chipmunks at my house for about 30 years now. They don’t cause any trouble but drive the dog nuts.

No issues with squirrels or chipmunks. Piney Squirrels are another story.

Well ,over the fence yesterday 3 year old Charlie was telling me the birds were eating all the cherries of his tree before he could ☹️.
Later on his Mum sorta told me off😁 and asked if I would pick up all the dead birds......tree lines up with my kitchen window , Gamo 177 underlever .

I have been using bird shot in the .22 mag for snakes, opossums and rabbits. Nothing quiet about it. I think it’s just as loud as shooting a bullet. Long rifle shotshell might be better.

I generally use .22 short if it is in the live trap. It’s not very loud. I don’t think I have ever seen shotshells for it.

A hawk has been hanging out behind my shop so rabbits are getting scarce again. Was seeing 8-12 every time I went out. I maybe see one when I walk the dog at night now. None during the day.

I have been thinking again about birdshot but its stupid expensive AND if I buy ammo now I have to do a full disclosure to the police about all my gun stuff ...new firearms laws kicking in after the muslim massacre here.

My 10 pump Daisy does pretty good too. BBs and pellets seem to work about the same. It did take a little practice though. Crossbows work well without much practice but shafts and tips can get expensive shooting at the ground.

I have too many close neighbors for much more than that. It would be bad for me to skip a bullet through someone’s window. It is temping to risk it some days when they are letting their dogs run loose but safety first. My dog stays home so I figure theirs can too. If they cared about their dog it wouldn’t be off their property.
