I have 2 AQ145a volvo penta motors. both have what looks like corrosion in the number 4 cylinder. what is causing it and can I put a sleeve or a liner in that cylinder?

You can bore and sleeve, but maybe just bore all of them and full rebuild

Don't know why it No 4 on both but check the exhaust for a leak

Be sure to replace the exhaust manifolds with the genuine Volvo style. Most likely the inside of the #4 exhaust ports are going to be corroded also. They can be repaired at a aluminum welding shop then re surfaced.

Do you know if there is a way to repair the manifolds? I can't affors 400 dollars for one.

you replace manifolds, and if in salt water, you do it often

BOAT does stand for Break Out Another Thousand.

it is a hobby that is more expensive than building hotrods and racing, and alsmost as expensive as owning an airplane.

Cylinder head would be a common cause on this engine, if I have my engines correct
