Wire 12 volt trolling motor

I thought i'd ask before I dive in. It uses 3 wires...1 is of course positive and the other negative. What is the third wire for? This is a Minn-Kota 41lb thrust (think it's a 559). It is 12/24 but all the trolling motor recepticles have 3 wires.<br /><br />Joe

the other wire is another POSITIVE wire as per to make a 24 v receptical... if only suppling 12 volts than just cap-off an forget about it..
