What is a good filler to use? I've just replaced part of my floor. There are gaps between areas of plywood that I want to fill before I glass over the plywood. I tried to fill with epoxy but the liquid drips through before it hardens.

Thanks

Re: wood filler

Try epoxy filled with milled fiberglass. Make a paste of a ketchup consistency and add a litte more if you need greater thickness.

Re: wood filler

I just put saw dust in my polyester resin to thicken it.

Greg

Re: wood filler

Filler material can range from kitchen baking flour, talcum, sawdust, metal filings to commercial fillers such as Cabocil or Aerocil.

For filling wood, I personally thicken resin with the dust from my orbital palm sander collection bag, but nearly any sawdust will do fine.

Re: wood filler

Thanks for the great tips, I took a pair of scissors and cut fiberglass matt into little strands and mixed that with epoxy. It worked great.

What are the advantages of commercial products like cabosil?

Sawdust seems to work fine for me but I have never used any of the products you buy. I have herd those micro balloon things used work well.

Greg
