Mercury 25XD serial number

It would be a huge huge help if someone can help me. I inherited my fathers boat. Im having trouble getting parts to repair it as when i put the engine serial number in a parts catalog the program doesn't acknowledge that it exists. So how can i get the parts i need. Im guessing that its a 83 model the number is A147512

Looks like an 85 model.----Does cowling have brown / copper coloured stripes ?----Should be easy to find parts !

Yes it does. Well would you know why when i type the serial number in parts catalogs it come back with nothing

Whatever site your are using may want a "0" in front, as 0A147512,
