I bought 2 of these Costco 10X20 eight leg portable shelters about 5 years ago when they were on sale. I only erected one.

great for 3 years, then the UV ate the roof. So, I used the roof out of the other one.

Now that second tarp roof is starting to rip....

SO, I'd like to combine the two pipe frames to make one 10X20 heavy duty 16 leg shelter.

Any suggestions for the roof?

I could drill the pipes and bolt steel roofing panels I suppose....

I have never worked with steel roofing..... any good sites or tips on it?

any other ideas?

You almost have to use the metal roofing panels. I would use plenty of watertight screws.

Here we have a design where the iron runs the 'length' of the structure, not 'down from the hip to the top of the wall'. This braces the building, but the legs have to support the weight. You are using tube, and my guess is ... it may be pretty thin....all it is doing is carrying plastic.
You can get a waterproof shade cloth, which overcomes the uv problem, plus keeps the water out. It is easy to fit.

Cut some 4-6" peices of 1.5" angle ( drill 4 holes in each). You could get away with the galvanized angle that has the prepunched holes. Weld them to the roof pipe from the hip down about every 2'. Run some 2x4 or 2x6 purlins across and attach to the angle. Then use metal roofing.

You can get an OEM replacement cover for $80 shipped. If you need the number let me know.

I have one like yours. It will have lasted just 6 years. That works out to about $12.50 a year. The poles and structure are very stout on this model.

I have had to use duct tape to patch it in a few places but it will not make it thru another winter. Most of the tears have happened in the last two years when I had to use a pushbroom (pushed up from underneath) to clear the snow load off of it. Otherwize I am sure I could have gotten another year out of it.

I already ordered and received my replacement.

If your set on a non tarp roof, go with fiberglass corrogated roof panels. they are cheap at lowes or what ever and last quite awhile when supported enough. They are also light and you can see through them. They come colored also if you desire.

yes, please share the part number and where to get the cover! that would be awesome.
... i scoured all the literature that came with thing- no manufacturer name anywhere...

I used the SunTuf polycarbonate panels on my screen room roof and was considering using those again - the panels are lasting well and look like new still, maybe 7 years old.... but pricey... and the hardware is where they really "nail" you...

Go see your local billboard company.
They will likely give you an out dated vinyl billboard for free.
They are heavy, strong and uv protected.
Grommets all around.

Make good boat covers too
