Hello all. I just received my Lowrance HDS-7 and was going to start mounting the transducer on the transom. I have a 24' Grady White and I think the cable is about 5 or 6 feet too short of being able to reach the helm area. Does anyone know if they make an extender cable for the transducer? Can I mount the transducer in the front bilge area without any ill effects concerning being parallel to the ground? Thanks, Ron

"IF" I really had to I guess I could hull mount it inside the rear bilge area and then pull up the fuel tank floor covers and run the wire thru there. I "just" got those pesky floor covers all sealed up and don't really want to cut the silicone and then have do it all over again. Life is tough isn't it? Ron

Ron,
Where did you buy this unit from? All transducers I've ever installed, both transom mount, shoot-thrus, and t/hulls, had so much goddam cable I had to dog bone it up and stow it somewhere to keep the install neat...

Can you swap out the ducer for one with the appropriate length cable?
