Hi All,

I'm new here and just purchased a 14-6 aluminum Grumman with the engine noted above. Cant wait to go crabbing/fishing. One question...I don't think you can do it, but can the engine be tilted up in order to get the prop high when pulling the boat out or launching from a ramp? I can't find where you can lift it.

Thanks!

I don't believe that one does. You can only tilt the trim on it for motoring.

It does have a lock release on the font of the motor, down is release, up is locked. With it released (unlocked) the motor will tilt foreward, but it probably not stay there to launch or put on trailer. It is more for using reverse. If it is unlocked and put in reverse, the motor will come up all by itself.

These motors will take a ton of abuse and come back for more. Make sure that you change out the water pump impeller and the stainless steel plate in there. Keep the carb clean and treat it to some new plugs once in a while and you will get a lot of use.

Re: 1965 Evinrude 18 HP trim

Thanks a lot for the advice. Sorry it took so long to get back. Replacing the impeller requires dropping the lower unit? Also, on the lower unit of this model how do I identify where the water intake for the cooling is located. I see a rectangular plate with screws and also see a small round hole on one side.

The round muffs I have don't seem to fit either.

Thanks

PS HAd out on the river and this thing runs like a champ!
