Saw this on Michigan Out of Doors tonight and thought how cool it would be to do something like this with some of you guys. The video on their website is the whole episode, the second half has the part about the Inland Waterway up north. Think its going to be something we do after the Holiday is in the water.

Re: Michigan Get Together

In my minds eye I am seeing a whole line of Starcraft boats (that are really old but are fixed up to look like new) making their way through those locks and stopping off at the Inn Between for a burger. Maybe hanging at the Breakers in the evening for a cold one.

Looks like a nice spot for big fat Islanders and little Jet's alike!

Shoot, some of our rigs could find their way under the Big Mac bridge too!

Sweet!:D

Sounds like a plan:cool:...I grew up in Petoskey boating on those lakes. Definetely a great place to meet up.

The waterway can handle rigs that draft 5ft so jas can bring the Islander too:p

Here's a good web site for info on the chain of lakes.

Here's a little map of the chain of lakes.

We've got some property a bit southeast of Black Lake near thousands of acres of state land that is great for camping too. No fees or noise violations there.:)

Good thing too, I dug up an old photo of you and your buds from back in the day fighting over that spear that everybody wanted...

Alright, so we can do this in a couple weeks then? :D:D

I think most of the MI fellas are floating, or nearly ready to float a Starcraft at this point. Me, not so much. The the winter of 10/11 might be just enough time for me to piece that thing back together, eh!

I know, I was just teasing you Jas. Id rather take the new Holiday on this type of trip, be a little more comfortable than the Falcon, and I havent started that project.

As long as the gluvit is done and you have some seating I'd be happy to tow your barge thru the locks.:p

(the hole where the outdrive goes might be a small issue though;))

Yah buddy! I can't believe you have two! I can't even get my one done, rats!

Having two Starcrafts is super awesome by the way:D

Well, I haven't cut the new whole yet but I also haven't sealed up all the bolt holes yet either. Ah, I'll just plop in a bilge pump hooked to a well charged battery and a lawn chair and have you drag me along! Good thinking!

Re: Michigan Get Together

I love having the two, but I think once we get back from our camping/fishing trip end of the month the red one is going up for sale. Going to need the money out of it to fix up the new one. :(

Ive got a brand new bilge pump sitting in the garage, I'll bring it along incase one doesnt do the trick. :D

I hear ya CB...I've been pondering selling the yellow rig to raise capital to invest in the 22' SS or the 26' Chieftain myself;)

I'm pretty sure that we have enough boats water-ready to do it in august.:D

Jas will be the lucky one that gets to ride in whichever rig he wants:)

Ah man, you guys need to hang on to those rigs! We are about collecting them around here, aren't we???

Ooooo, see not having my old girl done might have it's advantages! I could try running all of your rigs, eh! I gave up the drinking years ago so I can do the driving!:D

If I had the money to fix up the Holiday I would keep both, but thats not the case. :( I just like knowing I brought it back to life and others will be able to enjoy it after I sell it.

Re: Michigan Get Together

I'm a bit late to the disscussion here :) . I saw that episode and thought about some of the same things, it would be sure neat to go into the locks!

The only thing keeping me from going is the car situation and that the boat seems to keep having more problems that I would need to address before a trip like that.

I'm also playing with the idea of getting another 18' SS this winter to restore, and keep the 16'. Not sure what I'll be doing there.

I just know that it'd be a bit pushing the limits of the boat and tow rig right now. Motor doesn't shut off sometimes, bildge pump wiring is spotty, and I just bent the prop last time I was out :(.

You guys should see who can come this year, and try it out! Then let us know how everything went (with pictures!), and we could set a date for next year :D.

Next year I'm in, this year is an "Under Construction" year. We love camping in Michigan. Invite me next year and I'll take you up on it.

Bar hopping on the water maybe not. Redneck etiquette says your kids must be at least nine before you take them in a bar. Mine is only 6, he's tall for his age though...........

When the Offshore is running I'd like to do a Lake St. Clair day trip. There's at least three of us right near the lake. Broadcast, Hopeshefloats and myself. Forgive me if I missed any Starcrafters in SE Michigan.

I dont know if Id be able to do a trip this year, next for sure. I did get my visitor packet from Indian River today that I requested off their website, that came quick.

And just for the record I wasnt suggesting a bar hopping/boating trip, Im not cool with that either, once we park em for the day...........:D. And you cant smoke in the bars anymore, they're baby friendly now. LOL
