7.5 merc year and carb question

I have ordered a carb kit for my 7.5, The parts guy didn't have or didn't know how to get the year,so we ordered off of the # on the carb.Without the year, I can't look up the float setting. Serial # 4253982 The carb is a Mercarb BB5B.( I think, hard to see if it is 8858 or BB5B). Any help on both the year and float setting would be appreciated. Thanks
