I am installing nautolex flooring in a Uniflite restoration and the deck is wider than the 72 inches that I can find in the material. The seam goes through the middle of the deck and I'm wondering how to weld or bond the seam. The application manual suggests to mechanically hold the seam with staples but I'm concerned about the appearance with the staples. Has anyone installed nautolex with seams successfully?

Re: bonding seams in nautolex flooring

I just installed Nautolex Deco Dot and have 4 short seams that I would like to "seal" somehow.

Still working on a solution, but the best idea I have so far is to use aluminum stock in the 1/16" x 1/2" or 3/4" wide. Drill holes about every 2 inches for screws and put a bead of 4200 on the bottom to seal it.

I would prefer to use stainless steel, but haven't found a supplier. Even a solid vinyl product, like T molding with the center rib removed might work well. Again, screws would hold it down.

I don't like using aluminum because even if painted or anodized, salt water will make it look crappy in just one season.

What ideas do you have?

Try McMasterCarr for that stainless stock. I buy alot of supplies from them.

Sew it with V92 (Dabond, Sunbrella) polyester thread and a #20 machine needle.
