I recently aquired a 25 horse Merc from my mother in law. I looked up the serial number and it looks to be a 1982 model. The motor doesnt want to idle very well in gear and will eventually die out. It has been sitting for about 3 years so I'm sure its in need of a carb kit and I figured while I was tearing into it I would replace the seals in the lower unit and put a new impeller in. I would like a service manual just in case I need a reference. Has anyone purchased one of the online manuals? Is there a better manual to buy? I have never put a kit into an outboard but have torn apart my snowmobile carbs a few times and am fairly mechanical. I have never done a lower unit. Are there any other sites that have some instruction? Any tips or things to watch for? I don't want to get stranded and I really don't want to **** off the mother in law. Thanks for your help.
