Anyone have an idea where I might find a fairly priced OEM rectifier? Its the 35a rectifier that was originally #583268. I believe it was changed to part # 0395204. No luck with aftermarket (CDI) and have been warned by others from their bad experiences. Would even consider a USED OEM vs. aftermarket.

Good luck finding a cheap one. I paid around $250 three years ago. For a marina OEM. Dont know if I would trust an aftermarket one

I just may have one for you, I have a TJ 150 SLCEM, this is a donor engine; it will be a couple of days before I go back over to storage where it is, I'll check on it for you. The question that I have is what is the testing proceedure to verifiy that it is good?

I'll let you know as soon as I know...

A used rectifier is probably not a good risk. The 0583268 is available through on-line dealers at $225. to $235 which is competitive with aftermarket. You also may find new old stock for less if you check with places like sea-way.com.

There is nothing generally wrong with CDI rectifiers, and on the few occasions when there is something wrong the company is quick to fix the problem when notified.

What is typical is that the cause of a rectifier failure is not corrected. so repeated failures from the same cause, such as bad ignition switches, are common.

To test the rectifier, follow the bench tests in the folowing: http://cdielectronics.com/InstallSheet/193-5204.pdf

Livewire(Jay), The test procedure was listed in the post prior to this one, requires engine to be running. I checked on that part cross reference and it is definitely the same rectifier. The motor you have is 1989 but it takes the same rectifier. Just let me know as soon as you get a chance and thanks. It would save our summer. William

These regulators are prone to burn and take the stator and harness with it. There was a change to prevent this. CDI should have the details, and may rebuild yours, with the update. Phone or email them, ask for James. Contact info on there web site.
