Question about 85 hp Mariner

Hi guys,

Im looking for tach's for my '77 85 hp Mariner. I have the MerControls with the tachometer plug. Ive been looking to all over the interweb for a tach and most say they only work with outboards w/ pulse alternaters. Does anyone know if my outboad has one?

Almost forgot the sn is 4732051

i would almost definately say it is capable of charging the battery - it will have either a rectifier or a combo ( rect./regulator ) it gets its charge from the stator under the flywheel .
