Hello, new hear and have a few questions. i just picked up a little sea king, i dont know the year, modle # or serial #. where would i find them, i looked all over that motor and found nothing that resembls them. i was told by the seller it was a 3.5hp but all it says on it is 1.8 N.O.A brake hores power at 3500 RPM. the problem with it is it starts and runs at full throttle for a minute or two and dies, also wount idle or run at lower speeds. any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Here are a few pics of my motor. thank you.

Very nice find! Wish I could get so lucky. A nice original complete with legible decals of that age is hard to find! It needs no restoration----just a good cleaning and a dab of polish will have it ready for a show.

Unfortunately it's a little too old for me to identify. I suspect it's a pre-war motor----if not then only a year or two after the war. I also suspect that it wasn't produced by the Gale division of OMC as were the post-war Sea Kings.

Best course would be to post the pics and questions where the old engine experts 'hang out'----the antique outboards club 'Ask-a-member' forum. You'll probably find out more than you want to know.;)

Check to see if the timing and throttle are actually linked together. On some earlier engines they were not. Also loosen the gas line where it fits onto the carb and see if fuel flow is sufficient for it to continue running.
And hope that FR sees this thread either here or on the AOMCI board.
You should get a lot of responses on your Ask-a-member post by in the morning.

It was made by Evinrude. I'm guessing 1939 or 1940. Garry at aomci will know all the details. He ate those things for breakfast.
