took the boat out for the first time yesterday and got a double whammy. very shortly after leaving dock, the boat lost power to the prop. when the throttle was engaged, the rpm's would go up as normal but the boat would not speed up. it stayed at a very low speed no matter the engine rpm's. i decided to head back to the dock. when i got back i went to adjust the tilt and pull the motor up a bit, then the tilt/trim died. just a clicking now. i unscrewed one of the hydraulic lines to be able to lift the engine up so i could drive home. i think i can figure the trim/tilt issue, but how about the other loss of drive?

Re: 1994 force 120 - loss of drive to prop

I own an 88 125 hp Force. I had almost the same exact thing happen to me yesterday on the lake.

I was out tubing and having fun for about an hour and had to pick someone up at the dock, we went through the channel and out onto the lake, opened her up wide and things were good... then all of a sudden the boat stops moving forward and the RPM's spin out of control - I throttled back and though "Oh man I lost my prop" ... i lifted the engine out of the water and it all looked good - i took the cover off and all the linkage was working as it should, manually turning the prop you can feel the gears engage, and it takes alot of force to turn the prop in gear.

Hopefully my problem is as simple as a spun prop too, but my question is you would get SOME power from the prop at low rpms right?

Right. i had enough engagement of the prop to get back to the dock, but if i opened up the throttle nothing but high rpm's and minimal force from the prop.
