This will be a Mecruiser Alpha 1 4.3L non vortec V6 from early 90s. Boat and engines are also from the same era.

A friend of mine bought a non winterized boat cheap with a cracked and flooded block, along with an engine from a chevy blazer. He wants to use the auto block and heads with the old marine crank/cam/rods one they are re-machined, and buy new manifolds and risers. The only thing he found is there is no hole for the mechanical fuel pump. Is there anything else that will be a problem?

I beleive he got everything for under 1k so I can see why he wants it all to work out.

seems like you could find a good running marine motor for around 1K..I got a 4.3 OMC Cobra and out drive I would let go for that. Not sure where you live but you should be able to find one near you for around 1K..save you a lot of hours and headaches.

Marine head gaskets/freeze plugs/cam/and accesories, yep. You'll have to go with a marine electric fuel pump.
