I have been working for the last 9 years to secure an additional Truck OEM for our product. We had Caterpillar previously, but our partnership with them ended in 2005. Then the search for a new partner became Job 1 at the company. I had my first meeting with these guys in October 2007, and we signed a joint development agreement on Friday. I'm pretty pumped so I just wanted to share, and since this is an engine product I thought you guys would be interested. We're two years away from a product, so this will be well buried before I could be selling anything . . .

And if somebody would ask me to post a link to the press release, then I wouldn't be self promoting or posting a link in the first post of a new thread. I wouldn't want to draw an infraction :eek:

Yup ^^^^ the odd thing is that I really haven't celebrated. The boss is out from the UK starting tomorrow, bringing his wife and he wants to party :D

Cat was truck, Navistar deal is all truck. I started my career in the Cat truck engine biz. The only real difference is that Cat sold engines to truck manufacturers, Navistar makes engines for their own trucks and a few others outside of the US.

CONGRATS QC.

I'm kind of jealous.

33 yrs. ago I got a associate's degree in automotive technology and after busting my knuckle's all this time I sometime's, kind of, sort of, wish I would have done something a little more challenging with my education.

This is in no way intended to demean my fellow auto tech's out there but.....,
it's a really tough way to not make enough money.

Do to a twist of fate 14 yrs. ago, genetic's and the wear and tear of my profession forced me to switch gears and now I buy/sell cars and maybe make as much $$$ as QC!!!:rolleyes:

rbh, are you drinking? :D:eek::confused::p;)

Possibly, but the older model do not have all the pollution crappola as the new trucks and yes (my impression) they pump out the power 1/4 more than the new motors, do they use more fuel yes, but the percentage HP loss over the fuel gain is crappola.

Re: Biggest (and longest) deal of my career . . .

Uumm, QC, I am confused. A year or two ago, it was big news around here how Caterpillar and Navistar were going into a joint venture to build over the road trucks. As part of that agreement, CAT would no longer supply their engines to anyone else. But I swore I read that Navistar (International) wouldn't be able to develope their engines separately. And that the engines to be used in the trucks would all be joint venture, or at least an agreed upon design. Do you see what I mean?
So is the CAT/Navistar joint venture not happening? Or are International engines exempt from it?
