She has completed her sea trials, a 3 hour tour, out to 40 fathoms and back with no help.

She may do all of 10 knots!

Beach sand blasted, looks clean, too clean.

The dents and scratches are still there, I think maybe a little 600 grit to bring out a little character?

PS. it certainly looks like the tops were 4 pieces put together with heat and sweat over 70 years ago, some cast, some worked pieces...Amazing....

As a sculptor I was always attracted by the shape of boats. These vents are a great example of form following function. Just love them and what you are doing to them. 10 knots is rippin in this boat, get the skis ready.

Well, I'm happier, sanded with 600 grit then on to the buffing wheel.

Funny thing, I tried the blasted surface on the buffing wheel, just left the compound on the brass, what a pain in the brass.

Those deep scratches, I just had to.....may need to "distress this area"

So....I'm happy with that, what kinds of trouble can I get into now?

How about fix this? Primer, no less.....on raw wood....

But.........

And a lot of close sanding......

And more sanding, a little micro files,,,,

77 year old varnish, wow

A lot of spraping, filing and sanding.

Looks like the lighter wood is Bay? darker is Mahogany

A little more sanding then spar varnish.

Without the glass or the bottom ring

The inside of the back, without the lock

The glass, previously fixed with silicon,

The inside of the top, somebody painted the inside white (originally chrome), not a bad idea

The ring off the bottom

Enjoy, I am, now I'm off to get a bag of dry sand, imagine that.
