Alpha One Trim Motor Pump Issue

Okay... We have said outdrive, the trim moves very slow up and down. I tired to hot wire the pump by connecting hot wire directly to up and down wires on pump motor (it is three wire)... it does the same thing, so assuming the solenoids good... We took pump off boat, does same thing with another battery...

Here is trick... We took motor off the pump and hooked up to battery, it runs real fast...... hooked back up to pump and same slow movement...

By the way, the wires also get real hot when we hot wire...

Is motor bad, or pump, or both? What else can we check?

thanks as always.

Well..You do say Alpha One in the subject..I'll give you that.

Do you have the OEM manual? If not you know you can download it at the front page on the top of this forum.

Yes thanks, I have manual, and have run through a pretty good troubleshooting effort... I am just at a point where MOTOR mechanics come in... I am trying to determine if I should try a new motor or new motor and pump.

thanks.

Ayuh,... It Sounds like the Pump, but still Could be the motor...
I'd just buy 1 of the New Style from SEI/ iboats,... It's plug & play....

Take a look inside the motor,If there's any rust or water it's time for a rebuild.

Did you find solution to your trim problem? I have similar problem with wires heating when jumping hot directly to motor lead.

I have same problem with a 3.0L outdrive ...on mine it is the wires coming out of the outdrive in the engine bay that are rot !

noticed this when took the engine out for a refresh !

are they similar ?
