I never saw where the head was taken off and the head gasket replaced.

I think I would thoroughly check the condition of the ignition system. It sounds like the miss is coming from there, rather than a lean sneeze, because it has been stated that the plugs are wet with gas. Another thing I would check is the float level. It sounds like it is getting too much gas.:cool:

G'day Bob here from Sydney Australia I have a 1982 35 hp Evinrude and have been following this thread with great intrest don't give up I love my motor and I can't kill it

How do I adjust the fuel thats going in? I checked the float last time I took the powerhead off and it looked new. The carb was rebuilt like 7-8 months ago...

With the carb off, and upside down, the float should be level. I adjust mine so that the gas shuts off a bit early, and have had no problems doing that. It's pretty obvious how to adjust the float, one you look at it carefully.
