My question is: what is this part called, and how do I get one?

It is called a female barb or female fuel connector. You can get one at West marine ormost marina's. I perfer the aluminum casting over the plastic.

Thank you so much. This is my first boat, and it is a littlel bit of project, so I am learning as I go! I will get the aluminum one, it makes much more sense than plastic (especially for fuel).
