I'm finally taking the plunge and got the boat in front of the garage and am going to tear it down beginning tomorrow. ANYBODY have any last minute suggestions or tips? It's a 77 fiberform w/OMC175(ford302) and an OMC175 sterndrive. Is there anything I should look for or give extra attention to while I take it apart? I'm going to remove the sterndrive first cuz it was recommended. It sat for about a dozen or so years so I"ve got alot to do and plan on going thru the wiring, trim tabs, and whatever else I come across along the way. I know I'm putting alot into such an old boat but it will be a learning experience that I can use.

The experience you gain will make the $ you put into the boat well worth it. I would recommend you take lots of pictures before you disassemble, as it can/will help you to re-assemble. Also, get some different sized freezer bags and a marker for small parts, bolts/ nuts, etc...Write the contents and where they go on the bags. Keep us posted on your progress. Good luck.

Thanx for that. I've done a few motors for cars and trucks b4 but never an outdrive or even messed w/a boat and from all the stuff involved it looks as though it'll keep me on my toes for the winter. I was also curious to know if there are any special tools I may need to rebuild the outdrive?
