Met Stephen King the other evening

Wednesday my wife and I are getting ready to go to our shop. We have the morning news on, and they say Stephen King will be doing a book signing at a Walmart in Baltimore.
He's been my favorite since I started reading his stuff in the mid 70's, so my wife told me to go down and sign up.
I went down, got my wirstband #307 of 400, and went to work.
That afternoon, went down and got in line, I thought it would take forever but it went quickly.
He was very nice, and funny too.

There are hardly any people I would wait in line for, he's one of a few. Of course, people are selling the signed copies for $500 on craigslist here now Not me, I'll keep it forever.

This was his first book signing tour since 92', so I doubt I'd get the chance again.

Dark tower series was the best. Funny the first book in that series the gunslinger was the worst. Got my daughter hooked on him. My favorites were The Tailisman, It and the dark tower. The only problem with Steven King is I can read faster then he can write. I wish he would do something about that.

I hear you! He writes a ton, but I always find myself waiting for his next one.

My favorite was "The Stand."

I started the new one, "Under the Dome", it's 1072 pages, should keep me busy for a week or two.

The Dark Tower series was excellent, even though the first book did start rather slow. good thing he survived that incident with the drunk in the van or it would have been unfinished.

now if they would start making a movie out of it before Clint Eastwood passes away

You're lucky! I grew up reading his books and still do from time to time. My favorite was probably firestarter...or maybe IT..or maybe needfull things...or Cujo!

Excellent author.

OH yea your a lucky dog !!! he's my fav. I have read all of his book except the last few !! just havent had time as of late !! working now the boat to much !!lol

Still think my fav book was the stand . then when he updated it I read it again !! I allways wanted to go by his house in maine , its one of the few states i havent been in !! john

I read acouple of books that I wondered why they weren't made into movies.
Some of his movies are pretty good.

I like some of his movies but they are never as good as the books IMO.

Making the Dark Tower books into a movie would take a 2-week (or longer) mini-series. I really like how he wrote himself into those books. My favorite was probably The Stand, but the movie lost something from the book.

First book of his I read was from when he used his other pen name. I cant remember the name he used but the book I read was called "Blaze", I think. My son collects his books so we have plenty of Stephen King at the house.

EDIT: Just googled it. His name was Richard Bachman.
