Mercury 115 HP--

2001 model Mercury 115HP will kick out of gear when trying to plane out. Only about 40 hrs on engine so I doubt it's wear on gears. Could it be linkage issues?

Either the shift needs to be adjusted to pull the engine farther in to fwd. gear or the clutch dog is damaged from jumping gear it does not take long
