Possible bad stator??

My Merc Classic 50 45hp will not start. I have been doing some testing with a ohm. From the stator there are 3 sets of wires Reds, blues, and yellows. I tooks an ohms reading between the red wires and it the ohms are reading to spec. When I read between the blue and blue/wt, It is testing open....could this be the issue that is causing the motor not to start? It seems that I might have weak spark.

Yes. the stator is open.

Thank you, I take it the blue stator wires are the low RPM wires???

I replaced the stator, and she fired up, Shes runnin a little rough but none the less, its runnin. Gonna check timing and link n sync.. Thanks for your laddies!!
