powerhead swap question

does anybody know if a 1982 mercury 50hp powerhead will fit on a 1978 mercury 70hp outboard and what other powerheads would fit

Sorry will not fit. The only ones that will fit is the small 3 cylinder motors such as:
1984-88 3 cyl 50/60
1972-77 3 cyl 65
1977-83 3cyl 70
and the earlier motors had different wiring so you will need the matching controls
