I Have A 1967 Steury Classic 15x6 Boat And I Am Having A Tough Time With Adjusting The Steering On It I Thought It Was Set Right But When I Took It Out In The Water Boy Was I Wrong Turn Lelf Went Right Turn Right Went Lelf I Belive Who Ever Had This Boat Befor Me Change The Cable On It Becuse Theres Like 8 Inchs Hanging Out Of The Steering Wheel Block Under The Wheel So Do They Make Boating For Dummies Hahaha I Need Help With Getting This Right So Please Help Me Any One Thanks God Bless

I was thinking with the 8" "tail" it might be a rotary style mounted backwards.

I think the cable spool is on the shaft backwards.

its a spool under the sreeing wheel with the cable wrapped a round it i tried to redue it myself but then i turned left it went right and so on i wonder how to get it right and tighten up it hangs down the sides of the boat thanks for all your reponses it was great to have all of your insites herringdan

i have a 1967 steury 15 foot with i guess its called bell type steering? and i am looking to find the cable to buy anyone know where are to find this cable? i had it rapped last year and didnt put in the river and did today it came apart and me and wife liked to been stuck out on river

If you have a cable and pulley system, you can find the cable at lowe's or home depot. Please make sure to carefully inspect every nut, bolt, and pulley when you put it back together. Those systems are fine when maintained properly, but bad things can happen when they're not.

I'll bet that freaked you out....
No sweat..did the same thing with a teleflex system..cable in wrong way..backing my 13 whaler out of the slip..dam thing kept banging into the dock..

had the same trouble with my (B.I.L) boat its been a while back,seems like the right side the motor cable wound counter clock and left clockwise to the steering column,it was aggrevaiting to try and line them up just takes sum studying and patience,good luck.

all I have to say is thank god for the caps lock filter (that's why every first letter is caps, he tried TO TYPE IT ALL OUT LIKE THIS!)....... !! Can and will never be able to understand why people think it's ok to post in all caps.
