Power Tilt

I have a 1987 Basstracker with a classic 50 Mercury motor. My problem is when the motor is tilted in the up position, it slowly goes to the down postion. The tilt up and down work good but it will not stay up for a period of time. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Leak in the hydraulic system.

check the fluid level in your hydrolic pump. they all eventually go down after being up but how long does the motor stay up.

The pump motor that is usally a box in the the boat near your battery. Make sure it is filled up and that the motor is functional. The hydrolic lifters on the motor make sure they hold pressure and there is no seal that is blown out. the lifters also need maintence there are fittings on them to replace fluid.
