The boat I am getting has sat in the water with the motor in the down position for ten years are there any special steps i need to do before running the motor?

Hope it sat in fresh water, not salt. If so, check it out mechanically real good and hose down the outside at the car wash or with a pressure washer. If you want to clean it to repaint...engine degreaser followed by oven cleaner...then etching primer, color and clearcoat.

How do I find that article. Have 83 25hp Evinrude that has not been run for 5 years.

Great step by step advice which I will follow. What about the accumulated crud in the motor housing?
