Quick question - hopefully easy answer...

I have a 1996 Johnson 6.0hp outboard... how do I tilt it up so the shaft is out of the water?

may have to shift to forward. some have a lock when in neutral and reverse.

Slightly older model pictured below but the knob arrowed turns through 180?. In one position the tilt is locked in the other it releases the catch and the motor will then tilt.
You may also have a shallow water drive facility that lets you support the engine part way between fully tilted and fully down

BTW that carrying handle is only plastic I've broken it now!
