I'd rather see you run a bolt through those safety chains. Kev's were welded
Good plan getting everything else ready before messin' with the new motor.
But are they running through anything on the trailer? My concern is if the only thing holding them to the trailer is a weld.
actually you are supposed to weld them on using the special rated bars/loops or brackets....just not supposed to weld the end links as it decreases the strength of them.
"grade 8 bolts no problems!"
(Attach single chain on trailer's longitudinal
center line. If 2 chains, attach equal
distance from and on opposite sides of
longitudinal center line, chains must be
crossed. Means of attachment shall not be
common with or utilize fasteners common
with ball or coupling. No welding may be
performed on chain after its manufacture.)
btw andy....someone stopped yesterday wanted to know if "any" of the boats were for sale.... they were interested in the ss.
dont worry, i said it has a home if i change my mind on it![]()
so you are saying not to weld the chains AT ALL?

you can, thats up to you...but if you do just bolt through the next link and not the weekened welded one.

that was my plan.
did you know NYS only requires one safety chain? but if 2 are used they must be crossed to be legal... makes no since.
i have no idea why im still sitting here since its finally nice out!
if you had it done for saturday you could come down for the spring fling pike derby and cast some lines... usually beginner luck takes it most of the time![]()
Chances of your hubs from the other trailer fitting and working on the spindles of the boat trailer? Very low.
(don't mind me, I'm just bitter at trailer bearings right now)
andy are they 1 inch straight spindles???
