I just finished installing the alternator conversion kit from Breezeworks on my MCM 165. I haven't received my $85 manual from Mercury yet, so...
The final step of the installation calls for connecting the charge lead from the alternator to the "positive post of the starter solenoid coming from the battery."
Here is my first question: what is that thing that looks an awful lot like every automotive starter solenoid I've ever seen that is bolted to the block just forward of voltage regulator?
The thing that I think is the starter solenoid is the 2" diameter cylinder attached to the starter itself that has the thick positive cable from the battery attached to it.
This solenoid and the mystery solenoid are connected by one wire.
Second question: Instructions call for black lead from alternator to positive terminal of coil. Is the black lead from alternator also positive?
