After sitting all winter my motor would not turn over at all. It's a kicker that just gets warmed up and isn't flushed. It's about 10 years old.
If I get the motor back up and running I'll be flushing it every time in future.
I found that there was dry salt cacked inside the drive shaft housing. See attached photo. The housing has blackend on the outside also, but I don't know if this is significant.
I have cleared the salt out and am putting the motor back together, but am wondering if salt water shoud have reached this area. If it is drawn up the leg in the water tube to the motor, then how did the salt collect here? Is there another issue maybe?
Cheers, Andy
