Welcome Vintage....

Best thing about her is that she's aluminum...If that was glass you'd hafta pass....

No way that was "home built", I think that was a "get around" to get her registered (maybe thats why they paid up till 2010??)

could be a starcraft. check the transom strength. also be careful about what primer and paint you use, esp. if you use bottom paint.
Try Budget Boats in Chesapeake VA for engine pieces. They might even have a motor cover for you!

your boat seems to be a BLUE FIN. very similar to starcraft but you can tell by th way the bow goes up and the rail peices. They are nice deep boats but i do know they have a thinner hull than most starcrafts.

No matter what anybody says..........free is free. That one has lots of potential. I've seen some real "heaps" get life breathed back into them. quite a bit of money too!!!!

I agree. Before it became difficult to do so, many boats without "papers" ended up being registered as "home made."

Got to give all you "boat restoration specialists" credit...lol

Wouldn't have the patience (or the money it looks like it would take...)
to get that boat back in "ship shape"..

You all must have great "vision" and imagination.......lol

Rick that boat will be a breeze. It's the Fiberglass ones with rotten stringers that's a PIA and very expensive and skill testing.

Everyone has their own unique skill set and tolerance- fixing stuff like this has always been simple to me and not that challenging, but some of my "jobs" have frustrated and perplexed even onlooking friends.

But then, I don't have payments or a job that forces me to show up 50 weeks a year and they do- THAT would make me buggers, and they take it in stride.

Mark_VT......have to admit that I like that "...not having to show up 50 weeks per year..." thing......lol.

I'll be retiring in just under 10 months now.....

Oh, and "fixing things" has never been easy for me....lol
I'm outstanding at taking things apart - not too good at putting them back together (always seem to have them "pesky" parts left over......lol)

Re: Look at what I just picked up for free.

I had a leftover unidentifiable bolt once - the third time I had a particular engine apart. I really couldn't remember ever taking a bolt looking like that out of anything! I finished putting the rest of the parts on and the truck ran fine, but I got so distracted with the "extra" part that I forgot to put coolant back in. Fortunately discovered that before it did any damage...

The snickers from others in the shop led me to believe someone was messing with me :) but I took it in good humor :) and never let on that I knew.

I glad i joined up with this group. Your all sick in the head just like me.There is nothing better than getting your latest project home stand 15 feet back from it and dream of how your going to fix it. Projects are my drug of choice. I have always taken on too many.... the day I stop dragging crap home will be the day I die. Marc Cruz

And that's what I'm just starting to dig into now....
