I am in the process of de-winterizing and I noticed my smartcraft guage does not come up when the key is on. Worked last year and my other guages come up. Got the boat at the end of the season last year so it is fairly new but I do remember it working fine.

Any help ?? No troubleshooting in the manual ???
Thanks in advance

You didn't day which one but,
If the gauge does not work look for a wire on the back of the gauge that might have fallen off, check for a broken/pinched wire between the gauge and wherever it goes, then check where ever the wire is supposed to go and see if that's connected.
It might be a blown fuse but your other gauges work so if all else fails trace the wire, if it leads to a fuse then that's probably it. if you check that I think you will be good to go.
There is a wire schematic in your manual that's like a wiring bluprint or you can go to the adults only sticky at the top of this forum and download one.
I just changed all my gauges, Don S gave me a great colour wiring diagram and had it printed in colour, man was that a big help.

Re: smartcraft guage dead ??

Smartcraft gathers information directly from the mercruiser ECU and displays information related to engine, fuel, drive etc.(more of a system monitor). The rest of the dash gauges go to individual senders. So they gather information differently.
It might be the battery is low?? I will check more tomorrow, it is strange that it worked when winterized, and not now ???

your battery voltage is displayed on the voltage meter just turn the key to on and you should be able to see what it is

Probably just a blown fuse, have you checked it?

Which smartcraft gauge do you have? There are 5 or 6 different ones.
Check that your battery is fully charged and the terminals are clean and tight.
Since power and signals all come from the engine ECM, you might as well start checking connections.

Re: smartcraft guage dead ??

The smartcraft system, no matter what gauge you have, (though I suspect you have an SC1000 System monitor) supplies info (power) through the CAN bus cable (most likely blue), if the blue cable that plugs into the system monitor has a yellow end on it it is a cable that plugs directly into your engine, no junction boxes. Try unplugging both ends, then plugging both back in. There is also a tiny little fuse near the computer module, that is where the CAN bus cable gets it power, look for any blown mini fuses, that may be your cause. (It was for me at one time!)
