3.0LX missing on excelleration!

To all the wise insightfull individuals. My Searay (w/3-0lx) has begun to stubble out of the blocks upon acceleration. I have to back off the throttle to stop this coughing action. any suggestions?.

Ayuh,...

How long ago was the motor's last Full Service,+ Tune-Up,..??

My WAGuess is,...
There's Crap in the Fuel System,+ the Filters are Plugging up....

Thanx BONDO just back to the forum mostly just read but will be more active in the future due to the all the information that has saved me so much time and money over the last few years I'am willing to share what I have learned on my own and from othes if it helps .

A stumble and/or cough on acceleration is often caused by a lean carb.

First thing I would check is with the engine OFF, remove the air filter/spark arrestor, while looking down the carb throat open the throttle all the way, watch for the accelerator pump squirt.

Was it a steady stream lasting the duration of the throttle movement?

If not then it may be time for a carb kit AND and accelerator pump. Not all carb kits include the accelerator pump plunger, ask your partsman to be sure.

Bondo, CharlieB an others I'm @ this time collecting as much info as possible from last seasons problems with my craft $ tight so research and education are good aids in the off season for an Ohian. But to answer both of you I'll be performing a full tune up plug,wires,fluids,compression & electrical checks,filters and carb rebuild after removing from storage. another service question for all in this thread is it really that difficult to check the impellar on my outdrive (alpha 1 ) along with any other outdrive checks? can i follow my Mercruiser service manual for good sound techniques that are successful?
