Re: Woo Hoo! What a Ride!

I am new here..,

I have never had the opportunity to know SAM, but as the Christian heart goes,....I can understand and respect the loss and pain we all endure when someone close passes into God's glory, as he must have I am sure.

He is remembered by many as a great person, and I would like to offer you my own sincere condolences, to be added to the ones spoken before me.

The more a man is loved and respected, the greater is the sorrow felt and expressed at his passing.

Mrs. Weaver you have my sympathy and respect, I prey you God's blessings and love in your time of sorrow.

Marneth, it is with sadness that I read your post. I will continue my prayers for strength and comfort for you and the family. It is joyous that EC is now with his Lord, but I feel sadness to know that I will no longer see his posts. He will be missed.

The Lord bless you, and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.

Re: Woo Hoo! What a Ride!

My most sincere condolences. I didn't really know EC well, but did get a PM from him some time ago. He was still planning his trip down the Mississippi in the steamboat, and wanted to know if I knew of any sources of wood in the New Orleans area. I didn't, but said that I would be glad to help in any way that I could, and looked forward to meeting him.

I've always enjoyed people who see the world in their own way. It seems to me that EC was one of those people. The idea of steaming down the Mississippi in an "old time" boat, just seems like a great adventure to me. I admired his spirit and sense of fun.

Mrs Weaver,
Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. I would like to offer this prayer and hope it helps.

GOD of Victory over Death
your Son revealed himself
again and again,
and convinced his followers of his
glorious resurrection.
Grant that we may know his
risen presence,
in love obediently feed his sheep,
and care for the lambs of his flock,
until we join the hosts of heaven
in worshiping you and praising him
who is worthy of blessings and honor,
glory and power, for ever and ever.
Amen.

That answers one question. I couldn't remember if it was him, or someone else, mentioning chopping wood for a steamboat trip down the Mississippi.

I haven't really been active on here lately, so I may have missed something, but did he ever complete that trip? I could tell by his posts that the trip was a thing that he held near and dear. I am real sorry to hear of his passing.

I don't believe he did, Bassboy. That said, I have now doubt that he is now sailing the rivers of the world in grand style, aboard that steamboat of his!

Re: Woo Hoo! What a Ride!

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers. We were unable to make the Mississippi trip because EC's health simply tanked in very short order this past month. It had been declining for several years, but he still managed to get done what he thought most important. I can tell you that he really enjoyed people and getting to know them, and that he never knowingly compromised his behavior to any other than that which would honor God. He was steadfast in his faith.

To any who are interested, the website to the local paper is: http://www.stillwater-newspress.com to view the obituary that is to be posted tomorrow (30th) noonish. It may reveal more about him that may explain his presence on this BB.

God bless you all - :)

Re: Woo Hoo! What a Ride!

Dear Mrs.Weaver & family, my prayers, & condolences are with you. I have been away from this forum for awhile during the holidays. I just logged in, and I'm shocked, and so sorry to hear about Ken's passing. I know he had battled some tough health issues, and last I remember he was doing well. I didn't know him well, but I was fascinated by his thoughts, words, & his steam powered boat, and always enjoyed his posts here. I admire, and applaud him, for his accomplishments. He is in a better place now, and I will remember him fondly.
God Bless, Mike D.

I've been away over the past several days as well. I am sorry for your loss and saddened by his passing.

EC's sig was "Internal combustion is a passing fad!"

Be assured External Combustion was and will always be much more.

Weaver, Thomas Keith View/Sign Guest Book
Keith Weaver, beloved husband and friend, joined his Lord and Savior in heaven on Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, after an extended illness. He was born on July 14, 1955, to Thomas Frederick and Juanita Elizabeth (Nace) Weaver. He decided at a young age he preferred to be known by his middle name. He was often ill as a child, and so learned to read early. Encyclopedias were his window to the world as he grew up. He was encouraged by his father to live life fully during his healthy periods, which engendered a life-long adventuresome streak that inspired Keith to try his hand at many activities.Keith graduated from Putnam City High School in Oklahoma City in 1973. He enrolled at Oklahoma State University where he pursued a wildlife management degree, but later changed his major to engineering. He received his bachelor of science degree in mechanical power in 1987. Shortly after, he was hired by Mercury Marine (in conjunction with General Motors) in Stillwater to be on the manufacturing team for the experimental Corvette LT-5 engine. He was responsible for the design, fabrication and installation of the material handling equipment to produce the lightweight engine. He later worked for Air Systems Components in Ponca City, the Flintlock Shoppe, Inc., of which he was president, Nomadics, Inc., Stillwater, NTech, Inc., Stillwater, RK Machine in Ripley and Stillwater Steel and Supply, Stillwater.Keith abided by his deep faith in God in his daily activities and refused to compromise his ideals. In so doing, he served as an inspiration for many people who needed reassurance that the best path in this life is most certainly not the easiest, but the most rewarding. He loved people more than anything. Some of Keith?s personal activities included French fur trapper-trader era skills and participating in rendezvous, flying aerobatic aircraft, gun-making, fabricating tools, boating, hunting, Civil War reenactments with the 30-foot steam launch he built with his wife and operating anything steam-powered. He was a member and past board officer of the Oklahoma Steam Threshing and Gas Engine Association, Antique Caterpillar Machinery Enthusiasts bulletin board, the I-Boats bulletin board and the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.He was previously married to Teresa Randel Weaver. He was predeceased by his father and brother, Lee Weaver. He survived by his wife, Marneth; stepson, George Ferris; mother; and numerous loving aunts, uncles cousins, nephews, nieces and dear friends. The family extends its gratitude toward the many friends, physicians, medical personnel and Judith Karman Hospice staff that took care of them throughout the time Keith was ill.A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Jan. 10 in University Heights Baptist Church in Stillwater.
