I just purchased this boat and noticed that inside the bildge area there are 2 fiberglass braces on either side of the motor mount area. One of them has a break in the glass. I had a new motor installed and would have assumed that the dealer that installed the new Optimax would have told me something needed done to it if it was serious. I wanted to see if their is anyone that is familiar with this boat design and would know if these are critical components to the transom or if it would only be cosmetic? Thanks for any insight before I take this back in for repair. My concern is if I take it in to have it fixed, they will rip me off for something that is not serious.

Theres nothing cosmetic in a bilge.
sounds like the end of the stringer , where it terminates at the transom.
They usually elbow upwards for greater strength. see pic.
If you have something like this and its cracked it needs fixing or it gets a lot worse. I would want an expert to give it a look over (the whole boat), I hired a shipswright to come over and check my boat, found him on craigslist doing independant work.

Ayuh,...

It sounds to me like Knee Braces for the transom....
If So,... Yes, they are Very Important,+ probably should be Fixed....

Something has gone south for one of those to break, if thats what it is.
Carefully inspect the transom, better yet have someone with an experienced eye look.
