1971 Evinrude 4HP. Carb. kit and starter rope

Hello. I am going to put a carb. kit in this winter and was wondering if I should plan on replacing the float at the same time. The kits I've seen for sale have not included the float. Also can anyone tell me the correct diameter and length of the starter rope? Thanks, Rick.

The float is I think you will find included in the "official" kit part no. 383067. But I guess in that model its not an old cork float so will probably be OK.

Can't help with the starter rope. I'd measure the old one!

Buy 64" of PN 0772579 starter rope. That is .13 or 4/32" diameter (#4).

replacing the rope is fairly easy as long as you do not remove the center screw, and release the spring. just did one. but had to replace spring also.
