I am about to go and purchase a new fuel water seperator/filter and was curious what is the best brand and what is the best model fo me I have heard racor is the way to go. I have a 1995 -17 ft center console 115 yamaha and use it mainly for fishing and wakeboarding and go out several times a week so I need something that will last and not need to be replaced to often. Thanks for time

I am not sure about the best brand, but you will want to be sure you get a 10 micron filter.

Sierra (Quicksilver) is 10 micron, and a whole lot less $$$.

What is the norm for replacing these? At those prices I hope it isn't too often.

The prices I quoted above are high. I took them off the first website I could find that quoted both brands. I know for a fact I can get the Racor unit for less than $80 elsewhere. I assume you can find a similar break on the Sierra as well.

The quality of the fuel and the cleanliness of your fuel system will play a large role in determining your change interval.

I put 250-300 hours on my motor a season. I change my filters twice as season mostly as a precautionary measure.

Replacement filters run $25-$27 each.

I picked up the Sierra F/W kit for $69 at West. It came with the mount and 2 filters, and all the connections. I have an o/b, so maybe there is a different system for I/O's.
