I have a 1992 15hp Johnson. It starts right away, idles, but does not provide force. Comporession fine, spark fine. When I restrict the fuel supply by pressing on the fuel hose shortly before stopping it produces grerat force. When i restrict it so much that it is just getting enough fuel the dingy starts to glide.
My opinbion is, that it gets to much fuel, spark plugs are as well black.
But the carburator has only an idle screw.

What could be the problem and what can I do to solve it?

it sounds to me you need to rebuild or clean your carb.

has this motor bean sitting for a while?

when you say force do you mean prepulsion? that it starts to go forward?
sorry dont know if i spelled that right

Sounds like maybe you need to reset your float. Might as well do a full carb rebuild while you're at it.

But, I agree a better description would help.

[I restict the fuel by squezzing the fuel hose.

Yes, it gets propulsion when it gets less fuel, is funny , isn't it.

Were you actually closing the fuel line, or squeezing the primer bulb that is in the fuel line?

when you get ready to clean/rebuild the carb make sure you clean every orifice you can find very well. theres nothin more agravating than pullin your carbs off after you thought you just cleaned them and are ready to fish!

good luck!

I put a piece of wire into the little jet screw in the bottom of the caborator to reduce fuel intake, and ther engine runs fantastic now.

Funny, that nobody of you guys had anything concrete to say about to much fuel.

I am a bit disappointed I must say.

Yes, it will run fantastic till the pistons melt from too lean of a mixture.
You were advised to rebuild the carb, and that is still the advice to properly fix the motor. Sticking a wire in the jets is not fixing anything because the air passages in the carb are clogged.

What is it that JB says? Premeditated negligence or something.
